 | | Public Speaking at Council and Committee Meetings |
A maximum of 15 minutes is permitted for members of the public to address the Town Council or its Committees. Anyone who is on the Electoral Register for St Ives is permitted to speak for up to three minutes (subject to the maximum provision of 15 minutes). Questions at meetings of the Town Council must be relevant to matters in relation to which the Town Council has powers or duties or matters relating to the promotion or improvement of the economic, social or environmental well-being of the town.
Questions posed at Committee Meetings must be relevant to the Terms of Reference for that Committee.
Anyone who wishes to speak is asked to make themselves known to the Town Clerk or the Committee Clerk before the start of the meeting. Although it is not necessary to give notice, in the case of a number of residents wishing to speak, priority will be given to those who have provided advance notice of their intention to the Town Clerk. It can also assist in the provision of an answer if prior notice of questions is given where possible.
A full copy of the Public Speaking at Council and Committee Meetings policy document can be obtaining by contacting the Town Council's offices. |
